Beginner Fencing 101 - West Virginia

Youth and Adults: Ages 8 and up

Duration: 8 week Comprehensive Course

Start Date: Sunday, March 23, 2025

Times: To be held on Sunday evenings, 6:00pm-7:30pm

Class Tuition: $240.00*

The use of fencing gear is included in the tuition.

*Additional $35 is required (payable to instructor) on the first day of class. This covers an RTF fee and new glove purchase.

Every year, we open our club's doors to invite people in the area to participate in our beginner fencing class. Many participants choose to make fencing their sport and fence with us weekly in this location.

BEGINNER FENCING CLASS DESCRIPTION

Whether you are a youth or an adult, our beginner classes are a MUST for anyone wanting to learn the sport of fencing. All classes are taught by professional member of the USFA, Coach David Copeland, who has over 25 years of experience in coaching all three weapons.

This class will cover the history of the sword, as it relates to fencing, dueling, and the beginnings of the sport. Students will also get an understanding of the weapons, how each one is used, and the modern-day understanding of the rules. From the first lesson and onward through the class, beginners will also acquire an understanding of proper footwork, form, and function. Coach David Copeland will assess each student and make recommendations for body conditioning, based upon individual need. Students will fence each other on electronic scoring machines.

All classes are taught by professional member of the USA Fencing, Coach David Copeland, who has over 25 years of experience in coaching all three weapons.
